As I went to bed last night I was reminded, as I'm often reminded on bad days, of a short conversation William Tecumseh Sherman had with Ulysses S. Grant after the first day of Shiloh:
--"Well, Grant, we've had the devil's own day, haven't we?"
---"Yes.... lick 'em
tomorrow, though."

Thought you might be interested in the Doris Kearn Goodwin name-check in the Washington Post story that came out today on the subject of infighting in the Clinton campaign:
"One of Clinton's favorite books is "Team of Rivals," Doris Kearns Goodwin's account of Abraham Lincoln's Cabinet, and she assembled her own team of advisers knowing their mutual enmity in the belief that good ideas come from vigorous discussion. But while many campaigns are beset by backbiting and power struggles, dozens of interviews indicate that the internal problems endured by the Clinton team have been especially corrosive."
Here are the article details:

I don't like Mark Penn and can't stand Terry McAuliffe and Howard Wolfson. I must say, though, based on what I've seen, on the small screen the pugnacious Wolfson tends to get the best of David Alexrod (this is not a judgement of the substance of their views, just the effectiveness of their respective deliveries).
I'm actually writing something about he Wolfson/Axelrod interchange on This Week right now. Haven't had time to work on it so it might come out later than I hoped.
